Ken Brubacher

Peacefully at Chapman House Owen Sound, with family by his side on May 3rd 2019, after a valiant battle with cancer, Kenneth David Brubacher in his 67th year. Ken was the beloved husband of Donna, (nee Gill) and cherished father of Angela (Noah) Ishaka, and Genevieve (David) Hiller. Dear step-father to Brendan (Katie) Purdy and Amy Purdy. He was the loved brother to Ann (Herb) Habermehl, Esther (Albert) Martin, Ruth Josephs, Gordon (Rhonda) Brubacher, Fred (Christel) Brubacher, Lorraine (Gary) Schoel. He was predeceased by his parents Urias and Sarah(nee Bowman) Brubacher. Bowman. Ken will be greatly missed by his 9 adoring grandchildren: Micah, Elyse, Julia, Isaac, Benjamin, Elijah, Safi, Joshua and Jesse. He will be missed also by his nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends, especially his side-kick Doug MacPherson. Ken will be mourned also by his loyal furry companion Carson, who was at his side throughout his illness.
Known for his quick wit and ability to tell a story, Ken loved to share his perspective on life. He grew up as a young lad working in his father's shoe store, dusting shoeboxes as a small boy, then went on to make his own name in the custom shoe and orthotic business for a total of 41 years: Foot Foundation in Elmira and Brubacher Foot Comfort in Collingwood. He was a talented woodworker, turning his hand to almost anything. He loved sports, baseball and his beloved Patriots in football. An avid reader and historian, he loved the English language and became an author of several books during the last few years. He was a true gentleman and a scholar. Life was an adventure and he loved to travel with his wife and his family. More than anything he will be remembered for his jovial laugh, kind generous heart, larger than life spirit and dedication to his family.
Family will receive friends at the Ferguson Funeral Home, 48 Boucher St. E., in Meaford on Wednesday May 8th from 5 until 8 p.m. As your expression of sympathy, donations to the Meaford Hospital Foundation, Grey-Bruce Residential Hospice-Chapman House or The Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. A private family funeral service will be conducted on Thursday May 9, 2019. Gone but never forgotten, always in our hearts.
