Hope For Our Kids
Did you know there are over 700 children and youth who need to keep warm in Grey & Bruce counties this winter? Your donation will bring hope to a child living in poverty - this includes access to necessities such as snowsuits, tutoring, groceries, and so much more.
United Way of Bruce Grey recently took on the important work previously accomplished by the Bruce Grey Child & Family Services Foundation, and “Hope for Our Kids” is a fund established by the United Way to continue the work of the Foundation.
Hope For Our Kids believes that vulnerable children should have equal opportunities, despite their disadvantaged start in life. Help make a difference in a local child's life today.
17% of children and youth in Bruce-Grey live below the poverty line – that’s 6,000 kids, or 1 in 6 kids. The “Hope for Our Kids” Fund will specifically support the most vulnerable kids in our community who are associated with Bruce Grey Child & Family Services (BGCFS) – over 700 children – and meets the United Way’s priority to help children and youth reach their full potential.
A donation to the “Hope for Our Kids” Fund will bring hope to children and families living in deep poverty in Bruce-Grey. It will also offer help to provide what is needed to prevent an admission to foster care, provide what each individual child requires – emergency food, safety equipment (e.g. car seats and cribs) and winter outerwear like snowsuits, winter coats, boots, mitts, hats and scarves.
Poverty shouldn’t be the primary reason a child goes into foster care. The fund will help to take poverty out of parenting and help parents be the parents they want to be.
