You may notice more police presence in Wasaga Beach for the rest of the summer.
OPP is providing six of its members to the Huronia West detachment until Labour Day.
The town says the extra police officers will help with increased needs for service during the summer months and help with enforcement of regulations in place because of the pandemic.
In a letter to Premier Doug Ford, dated April 23, Mayor Nina Bifolchi asked for additional OPP resources to help enforce COVID-19 regulations. She again made the request in a letter to the Premier on June 4.
Mayor Bifolchi says she is grateful to the province for recognizing the need for more officers this summer.
On behalf of council, Mayor Nina Bifolchi wishes to advise the community that the Ontario Provincial Police are committing additional resources to the region.
