Kincardine Committee of the Whole has received a report on a proposed new Davidson Centre office/reception area that staff believes will promote improved customer service, and increase visibility to users and visitors.
One councillor doesn’t have a problem with the report but is concerned neverthless.
Kincardine councillor Dorne Fitzsimmons says during budget talks, council was talking about a renovation and now it’s turned into a new build for the entrance and reception area.
He went on to say as far as he’s concerned the plan “came out of right field.”
The architect report calls for construction of an addition to the Davidson Centre that will be the reception and a private administration area.
Fitzsimmons reminds council that Tiverton is into its second decade of looking for money to upgrade its community centre with accessible washrooms and other areas.
He says, “We’re up here. Consider us every once in a while.”
After an hour of discussion council, in a motion, decided to receive the report rather than approve it at this time.
In addition, recreation staff will revisit the report and provide two further options, one of which will incorporate existing space without a new build.
Councillor Fitzsimmons along with the rest of council voted in favour of the motion.
