The Wellington North Fire Department responded to two structure fires in Mount Forest this week.
According to the fire department, on May 24 around 7 p.m., firefighters responded to a call of a blaze at an apartment building in the area of John Street.
When fire services arrived on the scene all occupants were out of the building and with the assistance from Arthur and Minot Fire’s Harriston Station, the blaze was contained to one apartment unit.
The family from the apartment unit was treated and transported to hospital by Guelph-Wellington Paramedics, as a precaution for smoke inhalation.
Several other tenants on the scene were also assessed.
With 50 firefighters on the scene, OPP helped with the closure of John Street.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and the cost of damages are estimated to be around $50,000.
The next night on May 25 around 10:30 p.m., the Wellington North Fire Department got a call of a fire at a storage warehouse on Industrial Drive in Mt. Forest.
When fire services arrived they found smoke was coming from the facility containing garbage.
The fire was contained to the contents of the building and the warehouse suffered little damage.
Wellington North’s Arthur Station and Minot Fire’s Harriston Station were both on the scene assisting with the fire.
