The Rotary Club of Wiarton is cancelling the 2021 Village Fair due to the ongoing Covid pandemic.
The fair is held each year on the August Civic Holiday weekend. It’s been around since 1938.
For the second year in a row, a press release notes, the decision has been made to put a hold on the event.
In addition, The Rotary Club also confirms the annual Shore to Shore Race, which runs on the Monday of the fair weekend, has also been postponed. The club will consider holding the Shore to Shore Race later this year.
With the cancellations of the fair and Maple Magic, the club notes these have impacted their ability to support community needs and initiatives, and they continue to look for new ways to raise funds, while keeping participants and organizers safe.
The club says they look forward to seeing everyone again in 2022 for Maple Magic in March, and the Village Fair along with the Shore to Shore Race in August.
*Editor’s note: This story was updated from a previous version to correct the fact the Shore to Shore Race has been postponed, but may be held later this year.
