There are two new co-chairs of the Grey-Bruce Ontario Health Team (OHT) planning committee.
Executive Director of the South East Grey Community Health Centre Alex Hector and the President & CEO of the South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Mike Barrett say in a joint statement “We look forward to continuing to work with all partners and stakeholders across Grey Bruce, including patients, clients, residents, caregivers, and families, to ensure the healthcare system meets Grey Bruce needs. We are honoured and excited to lead the Grey Bruce Ontario Health Team Planning Committee into the next phase and fully anticipate we will become an approved OHT in the near future.”
In an interview, Barrett says the purpose of the OHT is to bring health care providers (including hospitals, doctors and home and community care providers) together to work as one coordinated team no matter where they provide care.
Hector and Barrett replace former co-chairs, the President & CEO of Hanover & District Hospital Dana Howes and the CEO of the Kincardine Family Health Team Gerry Glover.
The Grey Bruce OHT Planning Committee has undertaken a number of initiatives to advance the development of an OHT in Grey Bruce, including the launch of a patient, client, resident, caregiver survey in November, 2020 to ask about the state of the healthcare system in Grey Bruce and inform the OHT full application.
1109 responses were received to this survey and results can be found on the www.greybruceoht.ca website.
