Some Grey Bruce municipalities are identifying their Covid vaccination proof policies for various facilities.
A release notes, in following the Ministry of Health’s proof of vaccination guidance in implementing this Covid measure on Sept. 22., proof of vaccination will be required to enter the Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre and Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre in Owen Sound.
To enter any of the indoor meeting and event spaces, as well as the banquet halls, residents must show identification and proof of vaccination.
Those under the age of 18 who are entering an indoor facility to spectate, use a gym or exercise equipment will need to show proof. Fitness members and visitors 12-year-old and over will as be required as well to show they have been vaccinated.
Exemptions apply to children under the age of 12, those entering the facility to pick up food, making a retail purchase, or using the washroom.
Those under the age of 18 who are entering the indoor sport recreation facility to participate in an organized sport, and those who provide a medical exemption featuring identification and a written document from a qualified person, are also exempt.
Proof of vaccination will also be needed to enter any of the town recreation, meeting and banquet facilities in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.
Any recreation program users above the age of 18, and spectators 12 and up will need to show proof of a double-dose of the vaccine, along with valid I.D. to use certain facilities and settings.
Those under the age of 18 who are participating in an organized sport are exempt from this requirement.
The Municipality of Kincardine is also going to require proof of vaccination at some of its facilities.
These include the Davidson Centre, Centre for the Arts, Kincardine Pavilion, Connaught Park Pavilion, Kincardine Fire and Emergency Services Station 12, Tiverton and District Sports Centre, Tiverton and District Lions Club, Whitney Crawford Community Centre, Armow Hall, Bruce Township Community Centre, and Brucedale Community Centre.
Anyone entering these spaces will be asked to provide proof and I.D. Failing to do so would result in charges against the municipality.
Exemptions to the policy are retail, people entering or accessing services like washrooms and food distribution, children under the age of 12, and people between the ages of 12 and 17 who enter a facility for sports and recreational fitness while participating in an organized sport. Those who also provide a medical reason from a physician or registered nurse will also be exempt.
Workers, contractors, repair workers, delivery workers, students, volunteers, inspectors or others who are entering the business or organization for work purposes and not as patrons are also exempt.
Kincardine Mayor Gerry Glover says, “we hope that the public will be understanding and kind to staff at all affected facilities, including those at our local businesses and municipal facilities, recognizing we’re all required to follow the provincial legislation.”
