Huron Shores Hospice is bringing on a new Executive Director.
The hospice’s board of directors says Cathy Herbert will be taking on the full-time position effective immediately after working part time as the hospice coordinator since 2018.
Herbert holds a Bachelor of Applied Science – Honours Gerontology degree and has worked in leadership roles in the non-profit sectors for several years.
Cheryl Cottrill, co-chair of the board of directors, says they are slowly transitioning from a working board to a governance board and this is the first critical step.
“Cathy brings exceptional leadership and management skills to her new position, allowing her to successfully implement our Strategic Plan and lead the organization through the transition,” says Cottrill. “As a vital member of our team since 2018, Cathy has a solid understanding of our organization.”
Herbert says she is excited about transitioning into the new role as she aims to continue pushing the organization’s vision and strategic plan.
“Our passionate and driven board of directors has laid the ground work in ensuring that those in our community have access to quality end-of-life care, close to home, that focuses on providing comfort and quality of life to people as they reach their end of of their life. Working closely with our skilled and compassionate hospice team, I will strive to enhance and build upon the amazing momentum that Huron Shores Hospice has had since opening our doors in 2018,” says Herbert.
