South Bruce Peninsula council has approved a $746,000 tender for the reconstruction of Spring Creek Road.
During a council meeting on April 5, a report was brought forward recommending the tender be awarded to Harold Sutherland Construction Ltd. o/a Walker Construction Grey Bruce.
The project will include the replacement of seven culverts, surface treatment, and paved and surface-treated shoulders and intersections.
The town initially put out a call for tenders early in March for the reconstruction of about 4.5 kilometres of Spring Creek Road from Highway 6 in Hepworth to Allenford Road.
The tender closed March 23, and the town received two submissions. Both submissions fell within the set budget of $891,000.
While the set budget did not include other costs like the installation of a guiderail, further soil or quality control testing, potential cost increases due to the asphalt price index at the time of paving, the total cost is not expected to go over the allocated funds.
The project will start as early as May, with the final completion date geared for the end of June.
