An Owen Sound man has been charged in relation to an assault at the prison in Penetanguishene.
OPP say in a release, an arrest was made after an inmate at Central North Correctional Centre in Penetanguishene sustained serious injuries in an assault.
OPP say they were notified on the morning of May 13th.
The victim was transported to a local hospital, and due to the nature of the injuries, was then transported to a Toronto-area hospital via ORNGE air ambulance. OPP say the victim remains in serious but stable condition.
Detectives from the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Crime Unit and OPP Regional Support Team were are conducting an investigation under the direction of the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).
On Tuesday, OPP charged a 34 year old Owen Sound man with aggravated assault.
The accused is being held in custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on May 18,
2022.
