Invasive weed management in Meaford is going to start later this month.
The municipality says the work will be starting the week of May 23, as clearview herbicide will be applied to overgrown and weedy areas along road sections until June 23.
Meaford has partnered with Green Stream Lawn and Vegetation Management Incorporation for this project.
The municipality says invasive species can choke out native plants, invade farmer’s fields, with some weed species able to cause a rash or chemical burns when the plant stem is broken and touched with bare skin.
The municipality adds clearview is an approved herbicide and has been shown to be effective against wild chervil, wild parsnip, wild carrot, and giant hogweed without negatively impacting other vegetation, humans or pollinators.
Clearview will be spraying on both sides of municipal road sections in Meaford.
