A large military exercise is taking place this week in Meaford.
The Canadian Armed Forces’ Commanding Officer of the 4th Canadian Division Training Center (4 CDTC) says the 56th Field Artillery Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery, will be conducting live fire exercises from Monday August 22nd, to Friday August 26th.
They say noise from ranges at 4 CDTC may be heard from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
You may notice a succession of loud noises during this time, as the military says noise may be heard from large-calibre guns firing simultaneously.
You can also expect an increase in military vehicle traffic on Highway 26 and on regional county roads as they transport equipment and personnel to the site.
A release says, “This exercise is purely for training purposes and at no time will safety or security of the public be
in jeopardy.”
