The 34th annual Owen Sound Salmon spectacular has come to an end.
Anglers hit the waters of Georgian Bay between August 26th and September 4th to find out who could catch the largest fish.
The results from the Owen Sound Salmon Spectacular Bumstead Insurance, Financial, and Employee Benefits Leaderboard show:
John Earnest of Owen Sound reeled in the leading salmon at 25.495 pounds.
In the trout category, there are three final leaders.
Julie Ellis of Dundalk topped the Lake Trout division at 24.44 pounds.
Murray Garniss of Georgian Bluffs came on top of the Rainbow Trout division at 12.28 pounds.
The top Brown Trout belonged to Jon Fowles of Moorfield at 16.32 pounds.
Derby co-chair Chris Geberdt had expected going into this year’s event that more than 4,000 people would enter, and the final tally is closer to 4,500.
Over 3,000 pounds of fish were consumed between the two Saturday night fish fries during the derby.
