The Saugeen Shores Fire Department has extinguished a cottage fire in Southampton.
The fire department says on Feb. 5 at 2:04 p.m., 23 members from the department responded to a structure fire at 145 Rankin Street.
Responding crews found a small cottage fully involved and the resident complaining of smoke inhalation.
The department says firefighters quickly knocked down the fire with no injuries or loss of equipment.
The department estimates the loss at approximately $110,000.
Bruce County EMS also attended the scene to see to the resident who was released.
The cause of the blaze is not yet determined as a result of the extensive damage, however, it is not deemed suspicious.
Fire Chief Ed Melanson wants to remind all residents that working smoke alarms are required on each level of the home.
