The Billy Bishop Home and Museum has created a virtual Owen Sound Military Heritage Trail in Greenwood Cemetery.
A release from the museum says, “You may know that Owen Sound’s Greenwood Cemetery has three Victoria Cross Recipients interred within it, William Avery Bishop V.C., Thomas Holmes V.C., and David Vivian Currie V.C.”
The museum says there are many other interesting military figures who have been laid to rest in the cemetery’s grounds since its 1854 creation.
The virtual tour outlines the stories of those who served and their achievements.
They say more stops are included, representing the experience of those who served in Canada’s armed forces during both the First and Second World Wars including the Merchant Navy and the Number 2 Construction Battalion.
The museum also says its tour moves beyond the gates of Greenwood Cemetery to visit Cpl. Robert T. James Mitchell Park and the grave of Cyril Francis Schwan at St Mary’s Cemetery.
You can take the tour on any smart phone or from your desktop at home.
