Renovations at the Tom Thomson Art Gallery are set to get underway next week for accessibility upgrades.
The City of Owen Sound says in a release, construction will be starting March 20, which will include the reconstruction of the front entrance and the replacement of the gallery’s passenger lift with an elevator.
While construction is ongoing, the gallery will remain open with the entrance being relocated through the Owen Sound and North Grey Union Public Library next to the building.
As a result of the work, however, there will be no wheelchair or elevator accessibility at the gallery.
Additionally, there will be reduced parking along 1st Avenue West in front of the gallery to accommodate the front entrance construction.
The front entrance is expected to be completed in May, with the replacement of the elevator set for completion in July.
The project is being funded through the Canada Community Revitalization Fund and the city.
