A 40-year-old Saugeen Shores man has been arrested and charged with firearms offences in relation to an OPP investigation.
Provincial Police say the investigation began earlier this year when a firearm — which had not been reported as lost, stolen or sold — was seized during an investigation in another area of the province.
Yesterday (March 22), members of the OPP-led Provincial Weapons Enforcement Unit, along with the OPP Community Street Crime Unit and Saugeen Shores Police executed search warrants on Mill Street in Port Elgin and on County Road 17.
Police say three firearms were seized as a result of the warrants. One person was arrested.
OPP say a 40-year-old man from Saugeen Shores has been charged with several offences, including lost firearm or weapon not reported, and careless storage of firearm.
The accused was released for a court appearance in Walkerton in May.
