The City of Owen Sound is gearing up for a busy season of road resurfacing and construction projects.
The city says the 2023 asphalt resurfacing work includes repairs to existing maintenance holes and catch basins, replacing sections of curbs and sidewalks, and milling and paving roadways, and will begin within the next few weeks.
Additionally, other 2023 construction projects include culvert replacement, water main construction, and pedestrian walkway rehabilitation.
“To complete the work safely, temporary lane closures may be required, and drivers may experience some delays. While the contractor will have measures in place to ensure safe pedestrian access, please use caution when walking through the construction area,” says the city.
The streets where work will be done on include:
-22nd Street West from 5th Avenue West to 7th Avenue West
-19th Street East from 9th Avenue East to the end
-5th Avenue West from 15th Street West to 16th Street West
-8th Avenue B East from 3rd Avenue A East to 8th Avenue B East
-9th Avenue East from Odawa Driveway to 23rd Street East
-6th Avenue West from 18th Street West to 19th Street West
-2nd Avenue East from 17th Street East to 18th Street East
-8th Avenue West from Alpha Street to 240 meters north West
-3rd Avenue West from 10th Street West to 11th Street West
-12th Street West from 2nd Avenue West to 4th Avenue West
-6th Avenue West from 20th Street West to 21st Street West
-18th Street West from 6th Avenue West to 7th Avenue West
-17th Street East from 7th Avenue East to 8th Avenue East
-19th Street West from 4th Avenue West to 19th Street West

The work will be done between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday to Friday.
