Meaford wants an agreement with Owen Sound to allow its residents to use the city’s leaf and yard waste facility.
Council approved a motion during its Aug. 28 meeting to direct staff to bring back a by-law to enact an agreement.
Owen Sound started enforcing stricter rules at the 28th Avenue East facility earlier this year, cutting off access for people from outside the city.
Georgian Bluffs already struck a deal to allow township residents to resume using the city’s site, and now Meaford wants to do the same.
Acting CAO Matt Smith says they anticipate a by-law will be brought back to council soon.
“We anticipate being able to bring a by-law forward at the next meeting. We have been working with the City of Owen Sound already and so hopefully we will have that ready to go,” says Smith.
