Due to equipment malfunction, the Good Cheer Rink at Harrison Park will not be able to open this evening as originally scheduled.
The City says in an update to a previous announcement the rink would open at 5, that staff are working to have it repaired and open as soon as possible.
They say, “We apologize for any inconvenience and will keep residents updated through our social media channels this weekend.”
When it does open, its hours of operation will be dawn until 10 p.m., daily.
The Harrison Park Good Cheer Rink was constructed in 2005 through a donation by the Scenic City Order of Good Cheer.
The City of Owen Sound says, with the outdoor rink now in use, the community is reminded of the following guidelines:
Hockey and recreational skating are scheduled on alternating calendar days.
The City says, “The H.O.S.E. rule is in place to promote safety and enjoyment for everyone.”
Hockey on
Odd calendar days.
Skating on
Even calendar days.
The City recommends appropriate protective equipment is worn when using the outdoor rink.
Children under the age of 12 must be supervised by an adult. Skate rentals are not available at the park.
Updates about the rink and any closures due to weather will be available on the City’s Social Media Channels.
