The Intermediate Ladies Young Gun Team came home with Gold from Provincials held in Fergus Ontario this past weekend.
They didn’t play their first game until late Friday against Witches of Brooms. It was a nail biter, but the Guns came out on top winning 1-0. An awesome goal scored by our Shauna Ottewell, giving Jill Moffatt a shutout. Shauna Ottewell being both the tournament game MVP and Guns MVP.
They were back on the ice noon Saturday coming up again the Hit and Misses. Another tight game when finally, Rachel Mallette put one between the post giving them a 1-0 win and sending the Guns to the gold medal at 8:00 a.m. Sunday morning. Tournament MVP pick of the game was Rachel Mallette and Guns MVP of the game Kat Schiestel with another shutout for Jill Moffat. Early Sunday the Guns ended up coming back around to play Witches of Broom once again. Witches scored early in the first period to make it 1-0. While still in the first period Emily Vincent carried the ball up the ice making a beauty pass to Makaleyn Moore to put it in the net tying the game up 1-1. It wasn’t long after Jacey Lisk made a pass over to Katlyn Helm making it 2-1!! The Guns held their own rest of the game killing 3 penalties to hold the win and bring home GOLD!
The Team’s Captain Amanda Zettle received the overall MVP tournament pick for the Young Guns.
