The Bayshore Broadcasting 560 CFOS Radiothon has raised $21,600 for Camp Presqu’ile.
The funds were raised during the 12 hour event yesterday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and will go towards the kitchen renovation at the camp.
Camp Director Scotia Hutton says, “we will be ready for the summer of 2024 and it will help us provide more meals, which means we can have more kids at camp.”
The kitchen renovation will include more ovens, new equipment and a dishwasher.
She says they are aiming to have between 350 to 400 kids attend camp this year.
“As we have come out of Covid, we have increased our numbers. The first year we were 179, last year we were 260, this year we are hoping to add about 100 more,” says Hutton.
Located Northwest of Owen Sound, Camp Presqu’ile covers 14 acres of beautiful Georgian Bay shoreline. Owen Sound Rotary, in partnership with YMCA Owen Sound Grey Bruce has provided overnight summer camp to youth aged 6-16 for close to 100 years.
