The Bluewater District School Board (BWDSB) is looking to hear from the community as it updates its multi-year strategic plan.
BWDSB Communications Officer Jamie Pettit says, the board approved starting the process of developing the updated plan during a meeting on May 21.
The plan was last updated in 2019 and outlines the BWDSB’s vision, mission and priorities which will assist trustees, administrators and other board staff when it comes to decision making.
“It is something that is required by every school board in Ontario,” says Pettit. “It was felt now is time to take a look at that again and see if the current vision, mission and priorities how those are currently reflected in all of our teaching and learning and what the direction forward will be over the next couple of years.”
He adds the current plan is aligned with the three priorities outlined by the Ontario Ministry of Education for student achievement, which are achievement of learning outcomes in core academic skills, preparation of students for future success, and student engagement and well-being.
“Through the survey, the current vision and mission, and also each of out strategic priorities and other areas that are available in the plan, which can be found on our board website homepage, participants will have a chance to assess those current points in our strategic plan for current relevance and also provide feedback,” says Pettit.
As required under the Education Act, the plan spans a minimum of three years.
The survey can be completed either online here or by requesting a printable copy by emailing info@bwdsb.on.ca until June 30.
