Owen Sound Police say a couple of men are facing a slew of charges following a robbery and assault earlier this week.
Police say on Aug. 18 around 5 p.m., officers responded to an east side apartment building to a man being assaulted in the parking lot and another man with a gun.
Officers found an unresponsive man at the scene who had been assaulted and was taken to Brightshores hospital.
Police say the man’s condition deteriorated at the hospital and was later air lifted to London for treatment of life-threatening injuries. He is currently in critical but stable condition.
Officers discovered a man had been firing a pistol at a fleeing vehicle and the window of a nearby bus shelter had been shot out before their arrival.
Police say officers arrested and a man on the scene, recovering an air pistol, an expandable baton as well as a knife. He was held in custody.
Members from the Criminal Investigation Branch and the Forensic Identification Unit were able to piece together that over the past week, two men attended the apartment parking lot and were met by two other men.
One man assaulted another and was knocked unconscious. Police say two of the men then robbed the unconscious man and fled the scene.
The other man who accompanied the then unconscious man fired an air pistol and chased after the fleeing men, shooting out the windows of their vehicle as it fled.
Police say shortly after the incident, the vehicle which fled the scene was found at an industrial property on the east side of the city. An executed search warrant of the vehicle found over $4,000 in methamphetamine and fentanyl as well as weapons and other evidence.
Later on Aug. 22, the Criminal Investigations Branch arrested another man who was held for a bail hearing yesterday.
As a result, a 46-year-old from Owen Sound is charged with 10 offences, including pointing a firearm and careless use of a firearm, and a 22-year-old of no fixed address is facing eight charges including aggravated assault, robbery, and drug and weapon offences.
Police say the incident remains under investigation.
