Owen Sound Police has released its 2023 annual report.
In addition to highlighting investigations, the report also provides a year-one program update on its 2023-2026 operations plan.
Some key statistics from last year in the report include:
-76,904 911 calls for service received at the Owen Sound Emergency Communication Centre, a nine per cent increase from 2022.
-18,738 calls dispatched to Owen Sound Police, a five per cent increase from 2022.
-2,566 Criminal Code violations reported to Owen Sound Police, a six per cent increase from 2022.
Owen Sound Police has also enhanced its partnership with the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) Grey Bruce with the addition of a full-time crisis worker.
The report also highlights the service’s program achievements, these include the RIDE program, the Youth in Policing Initiative, the Mental Health Crisis Response Team, and the budget breakdown and summary of the year’s major investigations.
Police Chief Craig Ambrose says overall, the report reflects the service’s commitment to transparency, accountability and community engagement.
“The safety of our community continues to be our number one priority and we are committed to building stronger relationship with our residents and continuously improving our services to meet the evolving needs of our city,” says Ambrose.
