Owen Sound is partnering with the Scenic City Order of Good Cheer to revitalize the splash pad at Kelso Beach at Nawash Park.
This $500,000 program aims to replace the existing over 25-year-old playground and renew the 15-year-old splash pad facilities at the park with a focus on inclusivity.
This comes after the city went to the Scenic City Order of Good Cheer with this project. The order pledged a minimum of $250,000 towards the project, with five annual donations of $50,000 starting in 2025.
This will match the city’s existing capital budget for the project.
“Kelso Beach at Nawash Park is a critical community asset, hosting several significant annual events including Summerfolk, Canada Day celebrations, and the Keystone Family Fun Festival. The park spans over 24 acres and is located to be accessible by various transportation methods,” says the city.
There will be public engagement as part of the design process, which is scheduled for next year, and construction in 2026.
Mayor Ian Boddy says, “We value our partnership with the Scenic City Order of Good Cheer. All of their efforts to provide facilities for youth and families make our community a better place to live.”
