The Hanover and District Hospital Foundation is launching an $800,000 fundraising campaign for a new fluoroscopy machine.
Foundation Executive Director Madison Bryan says this campaign comes as the current machine has been in use for upwards of 15 years.
“It goes into digestive issues, joint problems, or any internal concerns, we are able to see all of those items going on. By replacing it, our team can detect these issues like blockages in your arteries, fractures or other internal abnormalities with much stronger precision and speed, resulting in better patient outcomes, and reduced hospital transfers and a lot more peace of mind for families and patients,” says Bryan.
She adds the current machine was used in more than 30 per cent of the hospital’s emergency visits in 2024.
“Without it available locally, patents have to travel hours to receive the same tests, we have the only fluoroscopy machine in the area, in Grey and Bruce,” says Bryan.
To help cover the costs of the project, she says the foundation has a couple of events planned, including the foundation’s bi-annual gala on May 31 in Hanover, which they aim to raise $100,000 from.
“It’s going to be a live auction, silent auction, there is dinner and a dance,” says Bryan.
More details on the gala can be found on the foundation website here.
Bryan estimates the campaign to take about three years to reach their goal.
