A former Kincardine councillor and longtime local hockey supporter Doug Kennedy was posthumously honoured with a Coronation Medal bestowed by Huron-Bruce MP Ben Lobb.
Lobb recognized 20 community members during a ceremony held in Wingham on March 5.
Kennedy’s award was accepted by his widow Cathy.
He was nominated for his dedication to the community, including serving as general manager for the PJHL’s Kincardine Bulldogs for 25 years, and being involved in the sport of hockey in Kincardine for 50 years.
Kennedy also served six years on municipal council over two terms, until his passing in August 2024.
