The Bluewater Park swimming pool in Wiarton is set to get some repairs.
On Tuesday, Council approved a staff recommendation to spend about $114,000 from its facilities reserve to replace the main drain and return lines in the Wiarton pool.
The Town will offer the work to Associated Building Restoration Ltd.
During Tuesday’s meeting, Mayor Jay Kirkland asked about the state of the pool, wondering what its overall lifespan is at this point.
Director of Parks, Recreation and Culture Ciaran Brennan told council the liner is 18 years old, the filters are 18-20 years old, and the motor was recently rebuilt, but is not new. “While this will fix one component of the pool, it is still an aging infrastructure that we’re trying to keep going as well,” said Brennan.
The Bluewater Park Pool in Wiarton is a seasonal outdoor pool that offers swimming lessons, fitness sessions, pool rentals for things like birthday parties and free sponsored swims.
