A person with a gun prompted the heavy police presence in Neyaashiingmiing earlier this week.
The OPP West Region Emergency Response Team, as well as canine and aviation units were called in around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning to assist with a report of “an individual brandishing a firearm” on Farm Road in Neyaashiingmiing.
“There were no injuries reported during the incident,” Grey Bruce OPP say in a release.
Neyaashiingmiing was under hold and secure, and shelter in place orders Tuesday morning due to what the OPP described at the time as an “active incident.”
Now, Provincial Police say a 35-year-old resident of the First Nation community was arrested and charged with firearms-related offences.
Neyaashiinigmiing Police and Grey Bruce OPP also executed a search warrant at a residence, and seized firearms.
According to police, the accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
