Meaford is going to consider making a zoning amendment this week for a proposed 20 unit housing development.
The proposed development at 337 Sykes Street South is a three-storey, multi-use building with six commercial units on the main floor and 20 apartment units on the second and third floors.
This comes after a public meeting was held in December, 2020, where the applicant worked through issues identified with the project. Staff now recommend approving the zoning amendment.
In addition to the zoning amendment allowing for residential units above the commercial units for the proposed development, it would also include allowing for 87 parking spaces on the property.
Staff recommend the decision to amend the zoning by-law be made in two steps, the first is for council to review the document, and to later be brought back for the April 7 council meeting.
Council will consider making a zoning amendment during its meeting on Monday at 1 p.m.
