There’s a possibility a significant ice storm hits parts of the Grey Bruce region this weekend.
Environment Canada has a special weather statement saying a “potent spring ice storm” is likely starting late Friday through Monday over portions of southern Ontario.
Forecasters say more specific weather warnings will be issued as the track of the storm is confirmed, but at this point “confidence is highest for areas of central and eastern Ontario between Parry Sound and Kingston.”
“The swath of maximum ice accretion is still uncertain at this point,” Environment Canada says in a special weather statement.
The special weather statement was issued for all areas in Bruce and Grey counties, but at this point the forecast is mixed. The Saugeen Shores area outlook for Friday is showers, possibly a thunderstorm. While the Bruce Peninsula and northern Grey County, including Owen Sound, have a possibility of freezing rain late tomorrow afternoon.
