The Brightshores Health System Owen Sound Hospital Foundation is making its annual Caring for Tomorrow Fund disbursement.
Foundation Executive Director Amy McKinnon says the Caring for Tomorrow fund, which was established in 1998, disbursed $680,000 last week.
“It goes to a variety of priorities, some goes to staff education, some goes to equipment in specific departments and others goes directly to Brightshores for them to make a decision on what equipment and facility upgrades are needed right now today,” says McKinnon.
She says one of the priorities is replacing the CT scanner.
“This is a piece of equipment that is used every day across all programs and departments, across all patients of all ages and it is really a key piece of equipment to keep all our patients diagnosed properly here in Owen Sound,” says McKinnon.
The money will also help purchase suction units for crash carts, six new urology cameras, blood gas analyzers, two new procedure beds for ambulatory care, and other equipment and improvements across the hospital.
Over $13,000 of the funding will go to assist nurses and clinical staff with continuing education and training.
The Caring for Tomorrow Fund is supported by community donations, the interest of which is disbursed, while the capital is maintained.
Brightshores Health System President and CEO Ann Ford says, “My team and I are thankful for the dedication of our foundations and the generosity of donors.”
