Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound Progressive Conservative MPP Bill Walker has announced the local funding being doled out to hospital and other health organizations in the region this year through two infrastructure funds.
According to a release from Walker’s office, Grey Bruce Health Services is receiving more than $1.98-million through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund, while South Bruce Grey Health Centre is getting $1.37-million and the Hanover and District Hospital over $456,000.
Two other organizations in Grey Bruce — South East Grey Community Health Centre and Canadian Mental Health Association Grey Bruce — are receiving more than $315,000 and $20,788 respectively through the Community Infrastructure Renewal Fund.
The funding is part of a $182.6-million investment by the Ontario government through the two infrastucture funds, a release from Walker explains. They allow health care system partners to address urgent infrastructure renewal needs such as upgrades or replacements of roofs, windows, security systems, fire alarms and back-up generators.
