PALMER, Iris Dorothy – It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Iris Dorothy Palmer (nee Bacon) on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at the Southampton Care Centre where she had celebrated her 100th birthday in April. Iris was born in 1921 in the village of Holmwood, Dorking, Surrey, England. She was predeceased by her father Thomas, her mother Margaret, her brother Eric and her beloved son Stanley (Oct. 1998). Iris came to Canada as a War Bride in July, 1946 on the Queen Mary with her son Stan. She lived in Toronto until she moved to Sauble Beach after loosing Stan. She was a member of the Widow’s Group and enjoyed playing shuffleboard at the Community Centre. She was a member of the Sauble Beach United Church and was a part of the Sauble Singers for a number of years.
She will be missed by her good friends Doug and Kathy Robins, Chassidy, Mark, Kianna, Krystal, Brad and Laila and especially her little furry friend Elvis. She will be missed by all her friends around the world whose lives she touched in many ways.
At Iris’s request cremation has taken place and there will be no service. Arrangements entrusted to the DOWNS AND SON FUNERAL HOME, Hepworth. In lieu of flowers, expressions of remembrance to the Owen Sound Animal Shelter or the CNIB would be appreciated. A peaceful sound was calling low. Now it’s time to go. Then God reached out his tender hand and gently pulled her home. And now she is dancing in the wind with her Stanley once again! In the words of this amazing lady – ‘I salute all the wonderful friends I have met along life’s pathway.’
