Vernon Vickers passed away peacefully at Grey Bruce Health Services in Meaford on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 in his 98th year.
Born in Euphrasia Township on November 9, 1922, Vernon was a son of the late Jasten and Mary (nee Wright) Vickers. He was the loving husband and best friend of Helen (nee Curry) Vickers, and was predeceased by his first wife Phyllis (nee McClean) Vickers on September 16, 1986. Vernon was the kind and loving father of Nancy Phillips (John) of Owen Sound, David (Cathy) Vickers of Meaford, Rosemary (Don) Duncan of Bracebridge, and Janice (Wayne) Neveu of Whitby.
He was the proud grandfather of Trevor, Graham, Jessica, Taylor, Ryan, Aric and Brianna, and great grandfather of Ben, William, Nathan, Alexandria, Reilly, Declan, and Gabriel. Vernon was the much loved stepfather of Keith (Kathy) Boyes, their family Steven (Allanah) Boyes and their daughter Lily-Grace.
He was predeceased by his sister June Woodhouse (late Harold), and will be remembered fondly by his nieces, nephews and their families.
Vernon was a man who farmed and worked off the farm as well. He loved life, he became an accomplished furniture maker and his wares were sought after by his family and friends. Vernon loved attending dances with Helen and spending time with his family and friends.
A private family visitation and service will be conducted at the Ferguson Funeral Home in Meaford, with interment following at Lakeview Cemetery.
