Yvonne Thom passed away peacefully at Summit Lodge in Owen Sound on Monday, November 8, 2021 in her 94th year. Born in Holland Township on Aug 22, 1928, Yvonne was the daughter of the late Stanley and Alice (nee Howey) Murray.
Yvonne was predeceased by her beloved husband James Thom on November 25, 2020.
She was the loving and caring mother of Robert Thom of Owen Sound and Lorraine Kindrat (Peter) also of Owen Sound. Yvonne was the proud Grandma of Adam Thom, Jennifer Purdy, Ashley Timmerman (Marty), Lindsay Demone (Dwane) and Meagan Thom and Great Grandma of Dylan and Evan Purdy, Emma, Cooper & Everley Demone and Quinn & Leo Timmerman. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Lois Douglas, and her family, Nancy Douglas, Julie & Brad Vail & their children. She will be remembered fondly as well by Anne Thom. Yvonne taught school at SS #1 Holland Twp for 5 years. She was a proud member of many women’s groups; Women’s Missionary Society, UCW, Bognor Women’s Institute, Meaford Goldenaires & was a leader for the 4H girls.
She was an avid quilter with the Meaford United Church & a member of the church choir and also a member of a catering group from Bognor. Yvonne received the Grey County Women’s Institute Agnes McPhail Award recognition Worthy Service for Home & Country.
A private family service will be conducted at the Ferguson Funeral Home in Meaford with interment following at Lakeview Cemetery.
