The City of Owen Sound is accepting nominations for the biennial Cultural awards.
The awards celebrate excellence in the arts, culture, and heritage in the greater Owen Sound area. They serve as a way to underline the importance of culture in the area, while also recognizing groups and individuals for their achievements and contributions.
The city says they will be holding the awards event on May 1, and are inviting residents to help recognize the contributions made to the local cultural community.
Award categories include Outstanding Group, Outstanding Individual, Outstanding Event, Most Promising New Event, Emerging Artist, Cultural Catalyst, Cultural Heritage, and Lifetime Achievement.
Residents will have until April 8 to submit their nominations for the various categories.
The awards reception will occur at The Georgian Bay Centre for the Arts in the River District from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The nomination package can be found on the Owen Sound cultural awards web page, or by picking one up at City Hall, the Owen Sound and North Grey Union Public Library, and The Georgian Bay Centre for the Arts.
