Mabel passed away peacefully at Errinrung Nursing Home in Thornbury on Monday, March 21, 2022 in her 91st year.
Born in the small community of Lavender in Simcoe County on November 18, 1931, a daughter of the late Norman and Annie (nee Holden) Weatherall.
Mabel was predeceased by her beloved husband William “Bill” Bowen in October of 2006.
She is lovingly remembered as the dear Mom of Diane (Keith) Cornfield of Markdale, Bill Bowen (Donna Chapple Bowen) of Town of the Blue Mountains, Brenda (Roger) Hinksman of Meaford, and she was predeceased by her sons Vernon and Terry Bowen.
Mabel will be remembered as the cherished grandmother of Rod (Carrie) Willis, Robyn Willis (Derek Lougheed), Crystal (Andy)Tackaberry, David (Jill) Bowen, Tracy (John) Arnold, and Angela (Ian) Whitton, step-grandchildren; Denise Cornfield Furlong (Ian), Annette Cornfield. She was the devoted great-grandmother of Jennelle and Gabrielle Willis, Cory and Kristin Arnold, Jonathan and Austin Tackaberry, Clara and Jovie Bowen, and step-great grandmother of Maggie and Marshall Furlong, and Jacob and Josh Duncan.
Mabel was a dear sister of Winnifred “Winnie” Bowins (late Lloyd), Jean Vail (late Lorne), Al Weatherall (Alberta), and was predeceased by siblings Norval Weatherall (late Dolsie), Dalton Weatherall (late Fern), Merle Brooks (late Doug), Lorne Weatherall, Stanley Weatherall (late Dorothy), Wilbert Weatherall, Bessie Binns (late Mike). She will be remembered fondly by her sisters-in-law Suzanne Weatherall and Betty Fry and as a special aunt by her several nieces and nephews and their families.
Mabel loved listening to her brother Al perform locally with his wife Alberta. She especially looked forward to his ‘Sunday Jams’ at the Bognor Hall where she was able to get up and dance, even well into her 80’s. Mabel loved her family and was so proud of her grandchildren. She will never be forgotten and will live on in their hearts forever.
A public funeral service will be conducted at the Meaford United Church on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at 2 o’clock with visiting the hour prior to service. We ask that masks are worn and that all Covid-19 rules and restrictions are respected to keep everybody safe.
