Lorne passed away peacefully at Summit Place, Owen Sound on Tuesday, June 28th, 2022. Born on May 10, 1928 in Toronto, Lorne Keith Vance of Owen Sound was in his 95th year.
Devoted husband of the late Madeleine Vance (nee Beauchesne). Loving father of Sharrie Lynch (Jim) and Kathy McDougall. Loving stepfather of Louise Gale-Deneault (Jacques) and Phis and Peter Gale. Cherished grandfather of James, Stephanie, Rebecca, Jade (Steve), Cory, Jean-Philippe, Etienne (Alexandra), Anne-Marie (Gabriel) and Marie-Diane and great-grandfather of Emma, Zoe, Leo, Brayson and Ronin. Special friend of Lize Boulianne (Chum), father-in-law of John Lehmann (Linda). Lorne will be missed by his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Wilfred and Mabel Vance, his brothers Ronald Vance (Shirley) and Webster Vance (Joan), his daughters Janet Lehmann and Laurie Vance and his stepson Daniel Gale.
Lorne made many friends during his time wherever he lived. He was an excellent auto mechanic and later auto mechanics teacher. Lorne was proud to acquire a private pilot license. He volunteered with the Inter Township Fire Department. He loved his David Brown tractors. He was an avid Dodge man and his interest in antique cars and car shows will be amongst the memories we hold dear to our hearts. He loved driving his Cadillacs and making road trips with his family. He had careers in truck driving for Tara Creamery and later trucking stone from Ebel Quarries and driving a school bus for students at the former Derby Public school in Kilsyth. In the latter part of his life, he enjoyed his home on the Niagara Escarpment farm at East Linton where he could enjoy the sunsets.
A visitation and service for Lorne was held at the Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, Owen Sound 519-376-7492. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Owen Sound.
