Phyllis passed away peacefully with family by her side at the Meaford Hospital on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at the age of 87.
Born in Sydenham Township on June 13, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Arnold and Vera (nee McDonald) Johnstone.
Phyllis was predeceased by her beloved husband Donald Abercrombie on September 7, 2016. She was the loving and supportive mother of Gayle and her husband David Milliner of Dundalk, Shirley Abercrombie of Whitehorse, Yukon, David Abercrombie of Fort Frances, Glen Abercrombie and his wife Cathy of Ariss and Sandra and her husband Rick Lawler of Markdale. Phyllis was the proud Grandma of Ashleigh Cowan (Neil) and their children Weston, Addy and Aly, Lynsey Milliner, Grant Milliner, Jacob Abercrombie (Maddi), Sarah Abercrombie (Sam), Christine Verbuyst (Mitch) and Mark Lawler. Family was very important to Phyllis and she loved the time she spent with them all.
She was a hard worker and worked alongside her husband Don on the farm for many years. Phyllis enjoyed sewing, quilting and playing cards. Her church family was very important to her and she looked forward to catching up with her friends at coffee hour. Family holidays were often spent in the camper seeing different parts of Canada with the children when they were young. She and Don continued to travel together when they retired.
Family will receive friends at the Ferguson Funeral Home in Meaford on Monday, July 11, 2022 from 4 until 7 p.m. A funeral service will be conducted at the Meaford United Church on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at 11 o’clock with a reception following.
