The City of Owen Sound is bringing back outdoor movie nights to the River District.
The free family-friendly movie nights on Aug. 4, 11, and 18, will be held at the Owen Sound Farmers’ Market and feature themed nights as well as activities before the movies start.
The Aug. 4 movie will be Sing 2 and have free treats from Sugar Dust and a dance party led by Tyler Boyle. Children 12 and under are encouraged to come while wearing their favourite dance outfit to be selected to win the best seats in the house, including treats and drinks.
The movie on Aug. 11 will be Spider-Man – No Way Home. Kids will be given the chance to challenge themselves to win games like connect four, bean bag tossing, and hula hooping. Children 12 and under will be able to enjoy a free scoop of ice cream from Sunday’s Ice Cream Parlour. Kids can come dressed as their favourite superhero to be selected to win the best seats in the house with treats and drinks.
The last movie on Aug. 18 will be Tangled. Kids 12 and under will be offered the chance to take part in a scavenger hunt led by the Owen Sound and North Grey Union Library and locate items around the Farmer’s Market, while also receiving chips and water. Children can dress as their favourite fairy-tale character to win the best seats in the house, including treats and drinks.
The city says attendees are to bring their own lawn chairs as seating, as it will be first-come, first-served when the site opens at 7:30 p.m., and the movies start at dusk.
