Suddenly, at her home on Saturday, October 3rd, 2020. Madeline “Molly” Gwendolyn Barfoot (nee Vanos), of Owen Sound, at the age of 85 years.
Dearly loved wife of the late Ron Barfoot (1967).
Loving mother of Cheryl Barfoot, Jeff Barfoot (Susan) and Chris Barfoot (Erika), all of Owen Sound. Proud grandmother of Andrew, Matthew, Rachel, Emily and Sarah. Lovingly remembered by her siblings, Betty Alvarez, Anne Vanos, Ken Vanos, Pat LaPierre (Larry), Gloria Cross and Linda Langley.
Predeceased by her parents, Jack and Madeline Vanos; her siblings, Doris Pearson, Norman “Moon” Vanos, Jean Cruickshank (Cubby), Jack “Jigger” Vanos (Almeda); her infant grandson, Sam Barfoot and her brother-in-law, Frankie Alvarez.
Molly faced all of life’s challenges with strength, grace and independence. Her loyalty and deep love for her family was instilled in her children and is evident in their chosen residences close to their childhood home. This made it easy to drop in for coffee, a visit or a walk and you were always welcomed with a smile. Alone, she raised three strong, independent and fiercely loyal children. We were lucky to have her as our mother.
Friends may call at the BRIAN E. WOOD FUNERAL HOME, 250 – 14th Street West, Owen Sound, Ontario N4K 3X8 (519-376-7492) on Thursday from 7:00-9:00 p.m. A Private Funeral Service for Molly Barfoot will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel, on Friday, October 9th, 2020 with Rev. Kathy Underwood officiating. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Owen Sound.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, 50 people will be allowed in the building at any given time and visitors are required to wear a mask and follow physical distancing rules.
