The Town of Saugeen Shores has issued a building permit to the Cedar Crescent Village project at Port Elgin’s waterfront.
The Town says in a release, it’s the last regulatory milestone, and the approval comes after all regulatory requirements were met.
Saugeen Shores issued the permit on the north phase of the development’s two future buildings.
Beyond the north phase which is expected to have retail space and washrooms, plans for the whole of Cedar Crescent Village include a second phase, which would have a restaurant with a rooftop patio, as well as a market area.
The Town says the permit finalizes the structure’s design and drawings after meeting all appropriate building code regulations.
It notes, the project also received a Permit to Take Water in November from the Ministry of Environment Conservation and Parks.
The town release says, “The Cedar Crescent Village is a public-private partnership that will serve as an anchor for the Town’s Waterfront Master Plan in Port Elgin,” adding, “It will allow the Town to make improvements to the Port Elgin Main Beach to make it more accessible, as well as providing more services at the waterfront.
