Gord passed away peacefully at the Grey Bruce Health Services in Owen Sound on Tuesday morning, June 20, 2023 in his 88th year.
Dearly loved husband for 61 years of the late Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Lourie (née Ellis). Cherished partner of his lady love Gale Vessie. Dearest father of Yolanda “Lonnie” O’Brien and partner Donald Elliott, Timothy Lourie and wife Wendy Weise and Robert Lourie and partner Ericka Hardy. Adored grandfather of Christopher and wife Lisa, Jason and partner Kelly, Tylor, Benjamin and Mercedes. Treasured great-grandfather of Jaden, Kayli, Colton, Alexa and Rylee. Loved brother of Velma Keeling and husband Tony and Doreen Lourie. Cherished brother-in-law of Donald Ellis and Elaine Carter. Predeceased by his parents Duncan and Catherine Lourie, his brother Edgar Lourie and grandson Duncan Alexander Lourie.
Gordon grew up on his family’s farm in Bognor and lived most of his life with his family in Owen Sound. He had a lifelong love of county music playing with local bands since the age of 15. An often-wanted musician, Gord played his bass guitar at jams and venues all over Grey and Bruce Counties. His proudest moment was when he and his early band The Owen Sound Junior Farmers were inducted into the Bruce Grey Country Music Hall of Fame in 2017. He was set to be inducted into the Bruce Grey Country Music Hall of Fame a second time with bandmates of The Rainbow Country Band this Sunday, June 25, 2023.
A Funeral Service for Gord Lourie will be held at the Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th Street West, Owen Sound, on Monday, June 26, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Ann Veyvara-Divinski officiating. Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. – 2 hours prior to the service. Interment in Greenwood Cemetery. A reception at the Funeral Home will immediately follow the interment.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Brooke Edwards, doctors, nurses and other staff of the Grey Bruce Health Services for the care they gave Dad during his time in hospital.
