Della Jean (nee Hamilton) Penfold, of Hanover, passed away at Elgin Abbey Lodge, Chesley on Thursday, June 29, 2023, in her 102nd year.
Born in Fergus on November 17, 1921, to the late Fred and Helen (nee McDermott) Hamilton. Della farmed with her husband Earl in Bentinck Township until retiring to Hanover.
Survived by son Allan (Jaqueline) Penfold of Hanover, daughters Anne Kennedy of Kitchener, and Susan Penfold of Hanover, daughters in-law Claire Penfold and Helen Penfold, grandchildren Heather, Cathy, Tim, Laura, Elisabeth, Maggie, Michael, Jennifer Anne, Megan, Joel, Matthew, Mary and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents, husband Earl, sons Telford and Larry, son in-law David Kennedy, two infant grandsons Peter and Mark, and brothers Jack and William Hamilton.
Della was a long-time member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Hanover where she taught Sunday School for many years, led various children’s groups, and participated in Bible studies. She was also a 4H homemaking club leader and a member of the Lamlash Women’s Institute.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Elgin Abbey Lodge for their compassionate care.
Visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, from 6-8 pm, where a Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 5, 2023 at 1 pm. Rev. Megan Penfold officiating. Interment in Hanover Cemetery.
