John Vander Ploeg went to be with his Lord on Thursday, November 12th, 2020. He passed away peacefully at Kelso Villa with his loving family by his side in his 94th year. Dearly loved husband of Anna Vander Ploeg (nee Miedema) for 66 years. Loving father of Florence Ingerson (Tom) of Florida, Agnes Cruz (Beau) of Arizona, Stuart Vander Ploeg (Rosemary) of Alberta and Wesley Vander Ploeg (Glenda) of Alberta, late Cliff Vander Ploeg (Marilyn), of Harriston, Tom Vander Ploeg (Pat) of Alberta, Janice Vander Ploeg of Shallow Lake, Glenn Vander Ploeg (Rhonda) of Owen Sound, Edward Vander Ploeg (Jennifer) of Shallow Lake, Richard Vander Ploeg (Tania) and Harold Vander Ploeg (Helena) both of Alberta. Proud grandfather of 30 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Ray Vander Ploeg (Helen), of Woodstock and brother-in-law of Alice Vander Ploeg of Shallow Lake and Elisabeth Vander Ploeg of Georgian Bluffs. John will be missed by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Sape and Antje Vander Ploeg; his grandson; Curtis Vander Ploeg; his siblings, Ralph, Gerrit (Elizabeth), Dirk, Cornelius (Renske) Vander Ploeg and Janna Dykstra (Jan). A private family visitation will be held at the Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 – 14th Street West, Owen Sound, Ontario N4K 3X8 (519-376-7492) on Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A Private Funeral Service for John Vander Ploeg will be held at the First Christian Reformed Church, 201 – 4th Avenue West, Owen Sound, Ontario, on Thursday, November 19th, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Sid Couperus officiating. All attendees will be required to wear a face mask and maintain physical distancing. Friends are welcome to watch the service at 11:00 a.m. via the church’s YouTube Channel at First CRC – Owen Sound. Interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Georgian Bluffs. If so desired, the family would appreciate donations to the Timothy Christian School as an expression of sympathy.
