Peacefully, surrounded by her family, at Lee Manor Nursing Home, Owen Sound on Sunday, November 12, 2023, formerly of Flesherton in her 93rd year.
Muriel (nee Wake) leaves behind her heartbroken husband of 69 years, Bob.
Loving mother of Dale(Susan) of Stoke’s Bay, Paul(Rochelle) of Ajax, Allan(Anne Haley) of Eugenia, Craig(the late Trina Seligman) of Seattle, Carolyn(the late Michael) Chaikowsky of Scarborough. Cherished grandmother of Jeffrey(Ashley), Michael(Brianne), Steven(Shel), Mitchell(Danielle Allen), Nicolas, Andrew, Emma, Alexander, Robyn and Skylar. Proud great grandmother of Henry, Charlie, Teddy, Rowan, Finn, Charlotte and Olivia. Dear sister of Ruth Little and Emily Carry. Step-sister of Gwen Solway, Jack(Linda) Acheson.
Muriel is predeceased by her parents Allan Wake, Aleth and Gordon Acheson and brothers Douglas Wake and Bob Acheson and sister in-law Joan and her husband Keith Freeman. Muriel is survived by her sister-in-law Marion Wake.
Muriel was born in Melancthon Township on September 27, 1931. She attended school in Corbetton and then graduated from Shelburne High School. She went on to Nursing School at Toronto General Hospital and completed her studies in 1954. Only a few months later she married the love of her life, Bob, on August 21, 1954. Muriel found a career in nursing, but her biggest passion was raising her children. Bob and Muriel raised their five children in Flesherton and owned the local Pharmacy. When Muriel wasn’t baking, sewing or crafting, she could often be found in the pharmacy helping Bob.
The family will receive friends at Gentle Shepherd Community Church, Eugenia on Friday, November 24 from 1:00pm until the time of service at 2:00pm. Cremation has taken place, spring interment Flesherton Cemetery.
