Owen Sound police say two men were taken to hospital after a collision in the city’s downtown area.
They say at about 9:45 this morning, a four-door Nissan sedan and a motorcycle collided at the intersection of 2nd Avenue West and 9th Street West.
The intersection was closed for several hours.
Police say their investigation found the motorcycle was traveling north in the 800 block of 2nd Avenue West approaching the intersection at 9th Street West, when the southbound Nissan turned left onto 9th Street West, directly into the motorcycle’s path.
The motorcycle collided with the passenger side of the Nissan, causing the 59 year old motorcyclist to be ejected.
Police say both drivers were taken to the hospital by Grey County EMS.
They say the driver of the Nissan sustained minor injuries, while the motorcyclist suffered more serious injuries, and airlifted by Ornge air ambulance from the hospital in Owen Sound to a larger facility where he remains in hospital.
According to police, the Nissan was being driven by a 73 year old Owen Sound man. Both vehicles sustained significant damage.
Police say they want to thank the witnesses and bystanders who helped those involved.
They say their investigation is continuing and charges under the Highway Traffic Act are pending.
